How I view critical literacy now?

Final is just around the corner which means I am almost done with this subject. As I said before critical literacy is a hard subject. It is hard to understand. A subject where you need to use your mind or brain very well. Although it is a stressful subject, trust me if you put some love into this subject then you will straight away enjoy learning it. Critical literacy also help me to think critically when I need to solve problems anything. It makes me think in depth before making a decision.

By far, based on my experience I think I did not perform well in this subject since my first assignment is such a disaster =( but I am hoping that I could pass this subject!!! But I try my best in answering the test and try to do well in my last 3 assigments. I always remember Madam Za’s word which she always remind us that ‘’what you see might not always be the truth".

I would like to recommend that all assignments are being done in group consist two to three people. I think it will be easier for us since not all of us manage to think critically. Furthermore, I believe that if two to three brains work together it will produce a good work compared to 1 brain because we can discuss, change our opinion and brainstorm it together. Furthermore, it would be easier for us as a student and it will lighten the burden and can avoid stress for the student so that students will enjoy doing this subject rather that hating this subject.

The body is the greatest possession, the mind is the greatest treasure and the spirit is the greatest companion.

How do you view the above statement?

YES!! Our body is the greatest possession. Imagine your life with only one hand, one leg and etc. It is hard right? You guys should be thankful for having such a complete body structure and capable to do everything on your own. Some people are not that lucky as they have disability which cause their movement would be restricted. We need to take a good care of our body as a sign of grateful towards our god.

Furthermore, the mind is the greatest treasure. Our mind controls everything. We need to use our mind wisely. Full it with knowledge where it can help to improve our life. Sometimes our mind shows our personality. The way we think, the way we did something shows the stage of maturity.

Last but not least, spirit is the greatest companion. Spirit is the non physical part of a person. To be a good person, the spirit plays an important role in a human life. Only a person with a strong spiritual can survive in this tough world. If you have no spirits you are not able to feel things. Spirits may come in the form of self motivation of a person. When you are down, you need spirit to inspire you to stand up and start a new chapter in your life.

Based on my view for all the statement is we do need all of it in our daily life. It helps us a lot in many ways. We should thank god for lending us all of this because not everybody has or experienced what we have. We are the lucky one!

What do I think of money can buy happiness?

Premise:-

1-      Child welfare cannot be gauged.

It is true when people said that money can buy happiness. But, what kind of happiness? For me money can buy happiness is in terms of what we, want we can have it. No matter how expensive we have to pay, but we still afford to have it.  Are those kinds of happiness you want? Or happiness that full of love for each other?

We can see nowadays, many rich people are enjoying their life with shopping, luxurious things, travelling and etc. But do you guys know that they are suffering inside? This is because they are lack of love from their parents or even their family. Usually, rich parents they thought by providing luxurious life for their kids they will be happy but actually, their kids are hungry for love and attentions from their parents.

2-      Poor people tend to have a happier family and stronger bond with their children.

The poor parents are giving their best for their children. They knew that they won’t afford to spoil their kids with money, so they use their quality time to spend with their kids. They give lots of attention and spend time doing some interesting activities together.

So basically, I strongly disagree that money can buy happiness. Money cannot buy happiness; it only can fulfil your desire to have or to earn something. Happiness is something that full with love that you have to create and feel it with your loved ones. Happiness with money is temporary while happiness full of love will last long.

What do I think about stereotyping?

Okay, firstly what is stereotyping? Stereotype means the first thing that came into your mind when you look at something and you tend to think them that way. Whenever we don’t have a good understanding of something, then we tend to make assumptions. Stereotyping has become a way for them to convey their dislike towards something. Malaysian loves to stereotype everything whether the bad or the good one. For example, men who are not into sports are termed as gay or all blonde women are dumb. Stereotyping can makes one ignore the diversity of groups.

In my opinion stereotype is not a good thing. People tend to judge other people with negative perception (most of it) without knowing the real thing. This can lead people to fight with each other. But if you are stereotyping in a positive way then it is okay. For example, Asians have high IQ’s. They are smarter than most in Maths and Science. If you are stereotyping something good then it’s okay for you guys to say something. If it is not, then you guys just need to keep quite or keep it to yourself. This can prevent you guys to fight with people around you and can lead you guys to peace and happiness. It is such a waste if you fill your life judging people with negative things. Everybody wants to live their life happily ever after right? You guys are the one who create and pattern your life so, think wisely before you do something.

Expectations and hopes for Critical Literacy subject

My expectations towards critical literacy? To be honest when I was in semester 3, people keep on saying “habisla nak hadap cl sem depan, susah sangat. Ramai repeat” people keep on saying the same thing again and again. It makes me scared because I feel that it’s hard for me to score this subject. I told myself that at least I need to pass this subject. I told myself this subject will measure my strength of thinking where I think I am not a good thinker.

Until the first day of the class, Madam Za our lecturer who is responsible to teach the subject explained a little bit about the subject. At first it sounds quite pleased until she talked about rule of ten that which i think is so difficult to understand at that time.  Madam Za is such an understanding person that she willing to sacrifice her time just for us to go for a consultation session. She will explain to us until we really understand. I promise you guys, once you guys understand the rule of ten, it will make your work easier and you will thank your lecturers for creating those rules. It also involves the process of gathering and analyzing information, facts and theories. Madam Za always said do not hear what people say, throw away the negative vibes and feeling and feel it by yourself and you will know.

I hope by learning this subject, I will gain new skills and a  new way to improve my thinking ability as in this subject you really need to think critically just to understand an article or passage. Furthermore, I hope that this subject help me on how to evaluate an information in a good and effective way. Bear in your mind there is no shortcut to success. Everything seems so hard when it is the first time for us! And yeah, madam always said that this is the beauty of being a student =)
